Correctly integrated, the RFID technology offers a higher process quality, simplified and accelerated processes as well as significant cost reductions. Next to those general advantages, an additional industry-specific optimisation potential shall be realised. Therefore, Ehrhardt + Partner has developed specific RFID solutions for the domains of pharmaceutics, textiles, electronic products, consumer electronics and document management together with their subsidiary ITL, the Institute for Technical Solutions in Logistics.

Under consideration of an adequate RFID hardware for the according application area, the new E+P industry solutions also allow recording goods which are positioned close to each other. By now, the parallel recording of large product quantities in closest proximity – the so-called bulk registration – could not be guaranteed in most cases. This often caused many items to be individualised with a lot of effort. The new RFID solutions respect those individual requirements and allow a significantly faster product recording and identification.

RFID Solutions for the Pharmaceutical Sector

With the industry-specified RFID solution for the pharmaceutical industry, every single item is provided with a transponder and can easily be marked, identified and traced.

With the automatic final control of the picked units, the batch numbers, expiration dates (BBD) and the particular item sizes can be checked and documented consistently and without manual intervention.

The client’s order, packed and ready for dispatch, is automatically tested for completeness and correctness. A correspondingly high security of processes can, without RFID, only be achieved by a final optical control of the single picked units, which is intensive in personnel and costs. The same applies to the management of returned goods: the former personnel-intensive registration of returns is now easier and automated; the re-registration of batches, BBD and item size is realised with minimum effort and without additional personnel costs. Besides this, an important acceleration of the existing logistic process is achieved.

RFID Solutions for Electronic Products

In order to avoid faulty deliveries, guarantee a secure tracing of the products and better control the grey market, especially in the domain of high-quality electronic products, personnel-intensive processes like the complete registration of assigned serial numbers or the final examination of containers are essential.

With the E+P branch solutions for electronic products, the serial numbers are checked and the closed containers are thoroughly examined. In order to identify and document the serial numbers, the goods do not have to be separated. In contrary, independent from the size of the closed shipping units, up to 100 transponders can be registered in a few seconds. An acceleration of the logistic processes and reduced costs are the convincing results. In addition, the particular transition of goods to the entrusted post service or forwarder is documented legally binding.

In the sector of high-quality entertainment electronics, for example with products like CDs and DVDs, the completed picking orders contain a multitude of different items which are packed closely together. In the past, these goods had to be opened for control purposes. This manual random examination is now unnecessary thanks to the newly designed RFID branch solution for entertainment electronics from the Ehrhardt + Partner group. The goods are automatically controlled by a 100 %. Here, the use of RFID also allows a high quality of processes and simplifies logistic proceedings. The former personnel-intensive task of managing returned goods is now easily and quickly realizable, without cost- and time-intensive separated registration.

RFID Solutions for Document Management

The complete and automatic documentation of personal and ministerial documents and files is the centre of interest of the transponder-based branch solution of the Ehrhardt + Partner group.

The extraction and storage of files as well as the transition to or between departments is securely traced with the aid of transponders. Within this application area, the certified higher relief of personnel, the simplified and accelerated processes and the doubtless documentation belong to the remarkable achievements of this application of technology.
